Cindy’s first experience with Learning Strategies was in a graduate class in 1989 at the University of Florida with Dr. Cecil Mercer. She implemented the Paraphrasing Strategy with some “borrowed” middle school students, saw their Reading Comprehension scores rise, and was hooked! She is currently working in her “dream job” as the project manager for Florida’s SPDG SIM Project. This project provides targeted professional learning opportunities and coaching in Content Enhancement Routines and Learning Strategies to feeder patterns of secondary schools in order to increase the proficiency and graduation rates of students with IEP’s.
