Have you noticed that much of the work of DuFour and McTighe/Wiggins cites the other? So how are the work of a PLC and the design and implementation of UbD intertwined? This session will demonstrate linkages, interdependency and how one can be a high-leverage tool to advance the other. Pairing PLC & UbD together can impact classroom instructional design and strategic change at the campus or district level.

Learning Outcomes/Next Steps

  • Participants will understand various linkages between the work of being a Professional Learning Community (PLC) and designing instruction (for students and educators) through Understanding by Design (UbD).
  • Participants will have strategies to support designing strategic plans for campus improvement and holistic advances in student achievement.
