Visible Learning, Content Enhancement, High-Impact Instruction, and Instructional Coaching: Putting Together the Pieces of the Achievement Puzzle
In the past three decades, researchers at the Center for Research on Learning have developed and validated many instructional routines and teaching strategies that are designed to increase student achievement, and John Hattie and his colleagues in Australia and New Zealand have analyzed a massive amount of data to identify the teaching strategies that are most likely to increase student achievement. At the same time, researchers at CRL have defined and studied the beliefs and practices that enable instructional coaches to be most effective. In this session, participants will hear how Hattie’s research informs the use of Content Enhancement Routines and the teaching strategies from High-Impact Instruction. Additionally, participants will lean what instructional coaches should do to empower teachers to learn and effectively implement those routines and teaching strategies.
